For the Birds

Perhaps on the proverbial third try, I can create this entry and not have it disappear the moment I insert a photo.  I caught up with the new shows at three of my favorite sites this week, the large Robert Bateman exhibition at Joslyn, the holiday poinsettia show at Lauritzen Gardens, and the huge tree and miniatures show at Durham Western Heritage.  As I noted in the previous entry, the World-Herald had photographed the Central High and Rose Theater models among the poinsettias.  I submit my version.

The fragile models and their trains are safely inside and used to good purpose for public pleasure.  What's more, one can see them up close and note the natural materials used.  The major grouping is shown below by the
brilliant poinsettia tree.

Here is an example, the cast-iron-front J.P. Cooke duo--there's a third Cooke building elsewhere--showing shaved twigs, acorns, seed pods, etc.

Here's a true close-up of part of Central High School.

Finally, my title:  just outside the north doors to the outdoor gardens are trees with ornaments meant for the birds, which could be easily duplicated by you.
