On the two sunniest days this week, I finally located the family graves of Uncle Chet and Aunt Sally Luckert and their son, Kenneth, and of Archie and cousin Hazel Stocking McShannon and their youngest, Brad.
At 42nd and L Street is Graceland Park Cemetery, the entrance on 42nd just south of L. As the map shows, turn west, then go south of the office to Section 14, which has a tall war memorial at its east end and a hedge not far behind that. The secretary marked the row where the Luckerts are found too far east, and my X is more accurate.
On South 78th Street north of West Center Road, across the street west from the Bergan Mercy Hospital complex, is Evergreen Memorial Park, not very far from me, actually. North of the office is Section B. Approximately where the clerk marked the circled X are Hazel and Archie with their youngest, Brad, who was a tagalong (note the dates) killed at 22 in a motorcycle crash. (Gene and his wife live in Council Bluffs; Joan McShannon Ferrante is an Omaha widow.) I was happy to have their exact dates for the family records, unable to provide them with the earlier Christmas photos.
North on the roadway, their three graves are easy to spot because of the McShannon marker northwest of the big pine and the metal-sculpture grave farther northeast of them.
Much later I found this baby photo of Bradley Scott when he was seven and a half months old.
